So many people are getting frustrated that they cannot get their blood tests from a private laboratory. Their are two problems: 1- your doctor may refuse to ask for the IgG-gliadin test 2- the lab may refuse to do the test (they will tell you that it has been superceded by the tTG test)
This section relates only to New Zealand You probably can get the laboratory to do the IgG-gliadin blood tests. But you might have to pay. If you live in the North Island (NZ), then you MUST ask the lab to send your sample down to MedLab South (Christchurch) to do the test for IgG-gliadin and IgA-gliadin.
The laboratories in Auckland, Hamilton, and Wellington are no longer doing this test. You must very clearly identify this on the blood form. In my opinion, the IgG-gliadin antibody level is a very important test in order to diagnose gluten-sensitivity. You MUST specify the IgG-Gliadin antibody test and INSIST that this is measured. In Auckland (Diagnostic MedLab) they are saying that they now do a better test (the tTG). Tell them emphatically that you want the old test! The IgG-gliadin. |
