Sally ask: “I went to my doctor for a blood test on gluten-sensitivity (following your guidelines). But my doctor didn't do the specific tests that I asked for (I actually showed him your letter). He also told me that the results came back saying that I'm not gluten-intolerant. How do I get my doctor to do the tests that will determine whether I'm gluten-sensitive?”
I reply:
There are several options. It helps if you can find a sympathetic doctor. The section relates only to New Zealand If you are in Christchurch (NZ), then the MedLab South laboratory is happy to process your blood test request. You can take the "Blood Test List" to this laboratory and they will charge you for this service. They will also send the results to you. If you are a "Member" of this website, your next step will be to send your results to me at the website. You will then receive an automated report from me and an email summary of the interpretation. If you live outside Christchurch, and your local laboratory cannot do the test, then you can ask them to send the blood sample to Medlab South, in Christchurch. There will be a charge for this. You MUST specify that you want the IgG-gliadin test. |
