Welcome. This section is for you if you are “going gluten-free” because of a gluten problem. This includes if you have: - Celiac (coeliac) disease;
- Gluten sensitivity;
- Gluten intolerance;
- Wheat intolerance;
- The Gluten Syndrome.
(each of these conditions is described) More than one in ten people need to be on a gluten free diet. In this section you can find out the basics from the list of issues. The Doctor Gluten Project is your online resource to provide you advice and leading edge information. It has been created to assist people who are gluten sensitive and/or wheat intolerant or who suffer from the Gluten Syndrome.

The Gluten Syndrome is usually a lifelong condition and you need to ensure that you stay gluten-free and healthy. The later that you are diagnosed, the more you have to be careful to rectify any chronic health problems.
The people that can help are your:
- GP
- Gastroenterologist
- Dietician
- Celiac Society
- www.Celiac.com
- www.doctorgluten.com
However, many health professionals are not yet up to date with the gluten syndrome. Medics are often sceptical of the harm of gluten. So take care not to be undermined by old fashioned ideas.

Usually, going on a gluten-free diet people feel hugely better in a few weeks. Then it will take a few more weeks for the gut to fully heal. Sometimes it maybe three months, although in adults improvements can take up to two years. For dermatitis herpetiformis, this can take several years to resolve. The younger the person, the faster they get better.

Hidden gluten is the term used to describe possible sources of gluten that you have not yet thought about. Some people are so sensitive to gluten that even tiny amounts can upset them. Sources of possible hidden gluten include:
- Food additives
- Cross contamination
- Skin care
- Shampoo and hair conditioners
- Play dough

I am frequently asked “who in your family should be tested?” It is my policy to tests as many people as possible! That is because at least one in ten people are affected by gluten. And one in a hundred people have coeliac disease. The sad thing is that most people who get sick with gluten are unaware of this.
Yes! Test your family. The tests that I recommend are in the blood test section. |

This “Forum” is your opportunity to make a difference to the world. My goal is to tell the world about gluten and the harm that it can cause. I am asking you to participate in this project.
The idea is for you to ask questions and post comments about gluten-free lifestyle and the benefits of a gluten free diet.
We need thousands of stories to convince the world (especially the doctors) that gluten causes havoc in many people’s families.
Be gluten aware.
Please join in with the Forum and get the gluten revolution under way. |
