I saw a 10 year old boy today. But 4 years ago when I first saw him I had suggested that he go gluten-free. But dad had resisted. His dad said “I thought that this gluten thing was a whole lot of nonsense.” (He actually used a stronger word!).
Why did dad think that? Why did his dad say it was nonsense? His dad had no previous experience about gluten. Simply, he just didn’t want to believe it because it was inconvenient to the family. So he put up with his child complaining about tummy aches and pains for the next 4 years. So today I saw him again and have repeated his blood tests. Now he is going gluten free. He will get better – at last! Check out our blood test pages to see if you need a blood test. Cheers. Dr Rodney Ford.
