Dr Rodney Ford is a Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Nutrition Consultant and an Allergist. He has been Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the Christchurch School of Medicine, University of Otago, New Zealand. He has described "The Gluten Syndrome". He has chosen this name to describe the affects of gluten on the brain, the gut and the skin. He has a worldwide reputation and has written over a hundred and thirty scientific papers, including books and book chapters. Dr Ford has been involved in ground-breaking work in the areas of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), breastfeeding, caffeine exposure, food allergy and gluten problems. He has been helping people with nutrition and food problems for more than twenty-five years. In that time there have been big changes on the perspective of coeliac disease. More importantly, there have been revolutionary changes in thinking about the widespread damage from gluten.
He is passionate about how some foods can make you feel so unwell. Every day he sees children and adults who unknowingly are suffering from symptoms caused by the food they eat. Dr Ford wants people to understand how food works so they can live healthier and longer lives. He sees so many people who eat the wrong types of food through their lack of knowledge.
He has recently defined in his new book “The Gluten Syndrome” – that is gluten causing gut, nerve and skin problems. Through this website and his books he wants to help you understand about gluten-sensitivity and its multiplicity of symptoms. He says that The Gluten Syndrome is the number #1 food problem that the Western World must come to terms with. He claims that a third of ALL chronic ill health can be explained by The Gluten Syndrome.
He has a new approach to the diagnosis and management of gluten-sensitivity. He has written a series of books to express his thinking and increase debate of the effects of gluten on health. He hopes this website will benefit you and hundreds of thousands of others, worldwide.
