Does gluten affect you?

This book is based on the questions that I am so frequently asked by my patients.  I answer their questions in detail and put them into the clinical context.  There has been so much confusion about the diagnosis and management of people who are gluten-sensitive. This book has been written to clarify this muddle.   It is full of practical information for you.

This book cuts through the confusion about gluten.  You are taken through a simple process to find out if you, or your family reacts to gluten.

Millions and millions affected

Coeliac disease is now recognised to be very common, affecting about one in a hundred people.  However, only a small proportion of these people have been diagnosed.  Therefore, there are yet vast numbers who still remain undiagnosed and who have significant health problems.

Now multiply this problem ten times.  That is the size of the gluten-sensitivity problem.  It is ten times more common that coeliac disease, but it has been largely ignored by the medical profession.  This is just starting to be recognised as a huge health crisis.  Are you part of it?

A health crisis

This book discusses the issues surrounding the new knowledge about gluten-sensitivity and how it differs from coeliac disease.  The structure of this book is based on the questions that I am so frequently asked.  I have answered these questions in detail and put them into the clinical context.  There is a rapid unfolding of knowledge.  There is still a great deal more to find out.  Therefore, some answers remain incomplete.

Your questions answered

The questions that I am asked indicate the uncertainty and misunderstandings that so many people have about gluten and how it leads to poor health and disease.  Many people have never heard about gluten and the harm it can do.  What do you know about it?

This book contains my answers.  My opinions have been formed by my extensive dealings with gluten-sensitive children and adults.  Also through research of the current medical literature.  I thank all of the children and parents who have enlightened me.
