Full of It: The Shocking Truth About GlutenI recently bought your “Full of It” book - you may as well have called it my autobiography. It’s incredible (even down to such things as low iron levels, bad enamel on teeth, convulsions as a child, anxiety, general instability). I’ve been meaning to write now for a while, but I’m pleased to say that I feel great. I’ve made it through the last two tough years and it’s getting easier. This book has been a “lifesaver” for me.
All my life I’ve had migraines off and on. Specialists and other doctors had always put it down to ...
... puberty, and then to hormonal fluctuations around my period. I had my first son two years ago. I was well during the pregnancy but when my son was 6 weeks old I started to get migraines every day. They were either the pain ones or the ones where they would come on quickly. I’d start vomiting and couldn’t stand up, as the room would spin. These ones are particularly bad and I take about 5 days to recover. I started on the path of thinking it was food that was causing these migraines, as they would start about 10am each morning. I went to a naturopath and she had me on an elimination diet which also removed most gluten foods. I started to get better. But because I wasn’t exactly sure of the right foods, I had some slip-ups and subsequently got very sick a few days later. I could write a novel on the journey! I have never been able to get diagnosed with tests as I started on a gluten free diet on my own accord (and going back to eating gluten would just about kill me). Many of the doctors I have seen with my migraines laugh when I suggest it may have been gluten. But my family doctor says the evidence is there without such testing. Please do contact me if you would like to know more, hopefully by writing to you may help other migraine suffers. Thank you for your help! You’ve been a lifesaver. Regards Trina |
