“I enjoyed reading your article entitled "Gluten Causes Brain Disease! My daughter (now 6) has Celiac Disease diagnosed in June of 2005. Since going on a strict GF diet then, the changes in her have been dramatic. Her swollen belly is now flat, her skin is vibrant, her hair is long and shiny, and she grew 6" in one year. Not only that, she is a different person - her moodiness is gone (nearly!), she is more positive, confident, active, and the smartest kid in her 1st grade class. She is now a fun, silly kid that loves to joke around. Plus, her love of music is inspiring and impressive.
But also in support of your studies is my own situation. My blood tests did not indicate active CD, but my daughter has the gene from me (of German and Italian heritage). I had been dealing with some health questions since the age of 35 (I am now 41) which my doctor was able to pinpoint. I was a migraine sufferer. Plus, in 2002, I began experiencing random tingling and numbness on the right side of my body (forearm, ankle, leg, and facial cheek). A brain MRI in Aug. 2004 proved normal, but the symptoms continued. In Dec 2005 I put myself on a GF diet. Knowing I had the gene, and feeling so awful for days, whenever I consumed pizza, pretzels, and beer (all past favorites!). I had to change something! I went GF with my daughter. Within 3 months my migraines were gone. Within 6 or 7 months my tingling and numbness were gone. Within 10 months my ankle was fine. I have more energy in general, and no longer fight taking a nap after lunch and dinner. I am a new man for sure.
